The north star aligns paths

With glistening white quartz

To blend with sempre-vivas

And draw colors from wild flowers.

In the valley amongst tall grass

She stops to unfurl

A purple orchid with her fingers

To birth the starburst

The estrela-do-campo flower

In the mountains of Minas Gerais.

In layers of white petals

That turn into long green spikes

Emulating, flaring out in reverence

Of its star.

It releases the sun to set

Casting Jesus rays in orange hues

The trident outburst now ebbing

To reveal the shining moon.

Orange and red hues at dawn blend

The range of distant mountains

With the mist hovering the valleys.

Loud squawks of tucanos

Awaken the valley

To join the star’s burst of life

For the birds to converse

With the colors of flowers

And call on the mountains

To unfurl the sun

And peek into the valley.

To reveal the glare of the dew drops

Where fluffy cream crystals

Hold the life of the mountains

In the north star flower.

The mountains strike red rays of starburst

As the clouds melt to give room

For the leaves in the hills

To emulate the colors of the sky.

After hours of brightness

All the starburst flowers in unison

Wake up the dark blue night

Mirror the stars in the milky way

Glisten their white petals with moonlight

And dance to the stellar scintillation.
