Strutting all afternoon into this evening at the shore

The single sailboat on the horizon contemplates

The sun awakening the other side

The thoughts of people who could not stay remain, waiting

As the orange hue dissolves into the darkening sky

For its melancholy to unveil as it fades

Like children in pensive exhilaration,

The hills start revealing the harvest moon

And as her glow pushes her into the dark sky

Those thoughts, like silhouettes, sway in awe with the ocean’s rhythmic drums

And soak in the purple fluorescence from the Velella sailors

As millions of them join, with their sails in tempo

While shimmering from her mesmerizing glow

The orange hue escapes from the sky swooping down to join

I find my solace, submit

To the slow pulsating rhythm with all in ode to the moon

Over my shoulder behind me, a young woman

Turned away from this magic,

Watches the slight tint left behind ebbing the sky.
