The red heart bearing the burden

Of the two hummingbirds.


Another, in her own square,

Turning towards them surprised,

Her body, transfigured 

Into a vivid, veined leaf.


And another emerges from the weeds

Awakened by the dragonfly’s flutter,

This morning — their world of leaf.


Etched, printed between them,

The sorceress with a painted face

And a heart of a dove, ponders,

Looking up at the colored necklace

Wrapped around this collage —

A gesture by the lady succubus

Inspired by the wine,

Smiling, transfixed in memories.


She wonders why the guest, 

Staring at this unfolding story, framed,

Does not lift a hand

To mend the colored beads

Tethered by the women of Teotitlán …
